Annotation
This guideline offers an alternative to availability guidelines based on malfunction time (VDI 3580, VDI 3581, VDI 3649, FEM 9.222). The existing guidelines continue to be valid; selection is at the discretion of operators and manufacturers.
Performance availability may be considered if
- the business process can be defined,
- the parameters of the business process are measurable,
- buffers, redundancies and performance reserves are to be considered, and
- one party (general contractor) is responsible for the entire plant.
Performance availability cannot be used if only individual machines are analysed. This guideline refers to the unit load area in intralogistics.
Note: Application to the bulk cargo area may also be possible.
