AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA ON COOPERATION IN FISHERIES

Whereas the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Namibia, hereinafter referred to as Parties, have mutually resolved to strengthen their relations in the field of fisheries conservation, regulation and rational usage of the fisheries resources,

Realizing that cooperation in the area of fisheries on mutually beneficial terms will promote the development of the fishing industries of the Parties, taking into the account the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) which was adopted on 10 December 1982 and their national legislation governing the fisheries sectors of the Parties, which underscore the sovereign rights of the state of each Party in the field of research, conservation, regulation and rational usage of marine resources within the jurisdiction of their exclusive economic zones,

have agreed as follows:

Article 1

Purpose of Agreement

The purpose of the Agreement is to foster the development of cooperation in the area of fisheries on the basis of equality and mutual advantage in accordance with legislation of both Parties.
