MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt on Cooperation in the Field of the Environmental Protection

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, hereinafter referred to as "Parties",

Recognizing that many environmental problems have a cross-border nature and that the cooperation between national environmental authorities can be of mutual benefit at national, regional and global levels,

Recognizing the significance of sustainable development approach for protection and enhancement of the environment as well as for the health and well-being of the present and future generations and sharing the commitment to implement the principles set out in the "Agenda 21" adopted by the UN Conference on Environment and Development (Rio de Janeiro, 1992) as well as in the final document of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (Johannesburg, 2002),

Wishing to strengthen the cooperation within the framework of specific international conventions in which implementation the Parties are participating,

Bearing in mind the need for closer scientific and technical cooperation in the field of environment and protection of natural resources.
