Selecting the Correct Testing Procedure
N TI 173 ISSUE 1
Annotation
This TI shall be followed for all testing activities whether undertaken by maintenance or project organisations, including Works Delivery. The testing carried out shall be appropriate to the alterations undertaken and the ‘level of risk’ to the signalling infrastructure.
Purpose
There has been confusion over which testing procedure can be used in situations such as:
-
work activities which do not require full design process
-
work activities which renew equipment as a ‘like for like’ replacement
-
if the change to the equipment is not under fault circumstances.
This TI gives instruction on the work activities which can be carried out using each of these procedures until such time the ‘master’ standards are aligned.
The types of work permitted to be undertaken using A210 are similar to those permitted under G110. A210 will be used by staff with a works testing competence and G110 will be used by staff with a maintenance testing competence.
Unless the work activity is reactive corrective maintenance, whichever testing procedure is used, it shall be pre-planned and the appropriate testing documentation used.
