The purpose of this user’s manual is to aid in understanding and complying with the requirements of Standard 55-2013 as published in its entirety. The user’s manual does not address changes made by addenda approved or currently in review that are not included in the current published version of Standard 55-2013 available through the ASHRAE website.

It is intended that this manual be used in conjunction with the standard; requirements are explained in the manual but are not repeated verbatim. Examples are intended to be generally compliant with the standard and have been reviewed and approved by the committee. Circumstances related to specific building designs may result in requirements that deviate from the examples. The examples given in this manual do not create new requirements or represent the only methods of achieving compliance with the standard.
