Annotation

This standard covers the flexible pavement of roads of any type, including paved open spaces, airfields, courtyards, and railway tracks and platforms, the term “pavement” being understood to cover

— the asphalt base,

— the asphalt basecourse,

— any asphalt binder courses, and

— the asphalt surface/wearing course,

and surface dressing, asphalt protection layers and asphalt surface/wearing courses on bridge decks.

This standard does not cover

— the placing of coal tar pitch and pitch bitumen courses,

— the placing of protection layers on waterproofing and screeds made of mastic asphalt (see DIN 18354).

DIN 18299, clauses 1 to 5 shall also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, DIN 18317 shall take precedence
