Annotation

This standard deals with the laying of cables and conduits and the construction and repair of ducting, and includes the installation of associated manholes, jointing chambers, poles, columns, distributing cabinets, etc. It also covers work involving backfilling of the embedment and the breaking up of surfaces for the purpose of cable laying work.

This standard does not cover

- earthwork in conjunction with cable laying work (see DIN 18300),

- timbering to trenchwork (see DIN 18303),

- road construction (see DIN 18315 to DIN 18318),

- trenchless pipelaying (see DIN 18319),

- horizontal directional drilling (see DIN 18324),

- outdoor installations forming part of domestic electrical supply systems rated for voltages up to 36 kV (see DIN 18382).

DIN 18299, clauses 1 to 5, also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, DIN 18322 shall take precedence.
