Annotation
This practice covers the use of magnetic- and eddycurrent- type thickness instruments (gauges) for nondestructive thickness measurement of a coating on a metal substrate.
More specific uses of these instruments are covered by Practice D7091 and the following test methods issued by ASTM: Test Methods B244, B499, B530, and G12.
Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch-pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
Measurements made in accordance with this practice will be in compliance with the requirements of ISO 2178 as printed in 1982.
