Annotation
This standard deals with the excavation and extraction of soil and rock, using sub-surface and cut-and-cover techniques, for the construction of underground cavities in soil and rock (e.g. adits, tunnels, caverns, shafts) which are not directly intended for the extraction of minerals.
It includes the breaking, loading and haulage of soil and rock, the supporting of the cavity underground, and the collection, treatment and discharge of water up to the assigned discharge point. It also applies to supporting work in cases where this also serves to permanently line the cavities.
This standard does not cover
- borehole sinking operations
- trenchless pipelaying
DIN 18299, clauses 1 to 5 shall also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, DIN 18312 shall take precedence.
