Interdisciplinary design of automated guided vehicle systems (AGVS)
N VDI 2710
Annotation
The scope of this guideline is limited in technical and organisational terms.
Technically, automated guided vehicle systems in accordance with VDI 2510 are dealt with. Systems with automatic wheeled vehicles for materials handling in intralogistics rather than for a possible passenger transport are the primary subject. In particular, the guideline applies to in-plant operation while excluding the use in public road traffic.
From the organisational viewpoint, the logistics functions of the AGVS are considered. Where the AGVS is but one component in the overall design of a production, storage or distribution area, considerably more needs to be planned apart from the AGVS, e.g. buildings, warehouses, assembly lines, production machinery etc. The guideline VDI 2710 shows the interfaces of the AGVS to the trades mentioned, but does not describe their challenges in planning terms.
