Annotation

Purpose of the guideline

By proposing a reduced number of variants of automated guided vehicle assemblies, this guideline hopes to produce a rationalisation effect for both manufacturers and users.

The aim is to establish a selected type series of driving motors in widespread use together with their essential system data so that components eventually become compatible. These selected type series have been determined in agreement with manufacturers and users according to the frequency of the vehicles produced. As regards method and model, this guideline Covers the most frequently operated motors in current use. With reference to steering motors, recommendations for selected technical features shall be indicated.

As a result of the compatibility this Standard is aiming towards, particularly in driving and steering motors, there is a chance that these subassemblies could be manufactured in larger numbers of units at more favourable prices.

As a consequence, cost savings in tenns of the maintenance and repair of automated guided vehicles can be expected, for example, through reduced stocking of spare parts.

New and further developments shall not be restricted by these stipulations. Different models and future de-velopments could include, for example, a planet differential wheel drive, bevel gear drive with vertical motor (for vehicles with a larger overall height) or the use of Standard motors instead of the special motors required today.

Automated guided vehicle applications with carrying loads below or above the limit described in this guideline are not affected.
