Annotation
Scope and field of application
This standard describes the conventional methods of determining water absorption using the change in mass of plastic (except cellular materials 1)) specimens after conditioning in water or water vapour .
The absorption of water can influence various properties of a plastic or a plastics component. In conjunction with other observations, the types of water absorption determined as specified in this standard can give an indication of the behaviour of plastics when influenced by liquid or gaseous water.
