Conduit systems - Part 1: General requirements

Annotation

This Standard specifies requirements and tests for conduit systems, including conduits and conduit fittings, for the protection and management of insulated conductors and/or cables in electrical installations or in communication systems up to 1 000 V a.c. and/or 1 500 V d.c. This Standard applies to metallic, non-metallic and composite conduit systems, including threaded and non-threaded entries which terminate the system. This Standard does not apply to enclosures and connecting boxes which come within the scope of JIS C 8462 series.

NOTE 1   Certain conduit systems may also be suitable for use in hazardous atmospheres. Regard should then be taken of the extra requirements necessary for equipment to be installed in such conditions.

NOTE 2   Earthing conductors mayor may not be insulated.

NOTE 3   This Standard, JIS C 8461-21, JIS C 8461-22 and JIS c 8461-23 may also apply to a conduit fitting used in conduit systems.

NOTE 4   The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ IEC Guide 21-1.
