Выяснение потенциальных характеров отказа, которые могли бы встречаться при использовании продукта или единицы, а также их уменьшение - это предпосылка для обеспечения надежности единицы.
Целью процессов является, с одной стороны, выяснение потенциальных слабостей проекта или предоставление указаний о надежности продукта и с другой стороны достижении необходимых улучшений надежности / доступности в пределах заархивированного или ускоренного периода. Данная норма обращается с ускоренной проверкой от не приводимый в исправность, а также от приводимых в исправность систем. Она может применяться к последовательным выборочным контролям, к проверкам твердого срока и к проверкам увеличения надежности, при которых величина меры отклоняется для вероятности безотказной работы от обычной вероятности входа аварии.
