Annotation
This standard applies to cylindrical gears with straight or helical-cut gears made of thermoplastic materials with reference profiles in accordance with DIN 867 and DIN 58400 as well as with modules of 0,1 mm and above. It includes details of calculating load-carrying capacity which also takes into account the special properties of these materials. Information about this and manufacturing processes, including the precision achievable in manufacturing, information about inspecting cylindrical gears, and rules relating to their design and the information provided on drawings will be found in VDI 2736 Part 1. Since cylindrical gears with gears made of laminates ("Hgw", that is, fabric-based laminate) are used in mechanical engineering and also in precision engineering and no corresponding technical rules exist, the present standard will in the form of comments draw attention to special aspects applicable to their calculation.
