Annotation

This standard covers steel venture gate valves with flanged and buttwedling ends, in sizes NPS 2 through 24, corresponding to nominal pipe sizes in ANSI B36.10. The term veturi describes a valve with seat openings appreciably smaller than the end ports.

This standard covers valves in Classes 150 through 600 as specified in ANSI B16.34.

The valves covered are the outside screw-and-yoke (OS&Y) type with a rising stem, non-rising hand wheel, bolted bonnet, and with various types of gates.

The standard nomenclature for valve parts is listed in Figure 1, which also illustrates some of the acceptable features for a venture gate valve.
