This specification establishes the requirements for copper and copper alloy rod, bar, and shapes intended for hot forging. The following coppers and copper alloys are involved:

NOTE 1—Additional information about forging practice and forgings produced from these alloys is given in Appendix X1 and in Specification B283/B283M

Units—The values stated in either SI units or inchpound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard
