Annotation

This Standard specifies the ultrasonic testing of stainless steel plates of 6 mm or over up to and including 200 mm in thickness

This ultrasonic testing also applies to nickel plates, nickel alloy plates and superalloy plates (Stainless steel plates, nickel plates, nickel alloy plates and superalloy plates will hereinafter be collectively referred to as flat products )

Additionally, this Standard may be applied to products less than 6 mm or over 200 mm in thickness by agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer.

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows:

ISO 17577: 2016 Steel-Ultrasonic testing of steel flat products of thickness equal to or greater than 6 mm (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ IEC Guide 21-1.
