Annotation

This guideline is intended to provide the responsible authorities, clients, companies performing the work, and quality management with guidance for the performance of joining work and weld inspections on the site.

Groundwater protection measures under the provisions of the German Water Resources Act (WHG) are linings for reservoirs dug in the earth, structural sealing of buildings, container linings in the form of retention facilities and sealing surfaces for storage, bottling and processing plants, and plants for the production, treatment and use of water-polluting substances and liquids. Furthermore, this guideline also applies to other geotechnical and hydraulic engineering measures.

The guideline incorporates the stringent requirements these applications impose on the quality of the welded joint, and therefore on its execution in an expert manner appropriate to the material used.

Moreover, it provides instructions for the installation of lining membranes, and the structural design of welded joints between the lining membranes and polyethylene components.

In accordance with the German Water Resources Act (WHG), work may only be performed by specialist companies with WHG certifi cation issued by audit organisations or quality control associations.
