Introduction

Note: Nothing in this standard supercedes applicable laws and regulations.

Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.

Purpose. This specification provides ergonomics guidelines for part and component design for new products supplied to GM.

Applicability. This specification will apply to all Statements of Requirements (SOR) used in General Motors product designs, including Global Propulsion Systems (formerly GM Powertrain) designs. Where possible the use of these SORs will be included in specific components, i.e., spark plug wires, hoses, caps, etc.

Remarks. For information concerning electrical connector designs, see SAE International (SAE) United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR) 25 document: Electrical Connector Assembly Ergonomics Design Criteria.

For information on shipping caps and body plug design and acceptable force criteria, see SAE USCAR43 Shipping Caps, Torque Caps, and Body Plugs.
