Form

This specification covers the procurement of granular heat-treating salts suitable for use in the molten state.

Application

This product has been typically used as quenching media for the heat treatment of steel alloys to minimize distortion and reduce residual stress, but usage is not limited to such applications (see 8.2).

Classification

The salts shall be of the classes shown in Table 1 as specified in the purchase order (see 3.5 and 8.3).
