Annotation
This International Standard is applicable to heating cables for low temperature applications such as comfort heating and the prevention of ice formation. The standard is applicable to cables for a rated voltage of 300/500 V.
Heating cables for industrial applications will be covered in a separate standard.
This standard is applicable only to cables and not to any other component parts of the heating system. It provides information on a number of constructions using one or more conductors and recommended combinations of recognized and sheathing materials.
Bare conductors and protected conductors to be supplied at voltages equal to, or less than, 50 V are excluded from the scope of this standard.
